waiting for the bus

I was amazed to see how many leaves are still holding on in the hedgerow. If they don't fall off soon, the new ones will grow beside them.

Once on the bus I didn't see a thing, as my eyes were closed. It seemed to be travelling terrifyingly fast, and I just couldn't look. None of the other passengers seemed to mind.

Dressing Up

Just a normal day at the office...
Here's Kevin and I after the latest performance of SEA DOGS, both dressed as pirates, and wildly over excited.

We were at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, performing with the College Brass Ensemble to an audience of children. Audience and performers were all dressed as pirates.

The picture of the empty theatre and the full score is my idea of Heaven - my words, Gareth Wood's wonderful music - waiting
on the stage for the audience to arrive...
You can find previous Sea Dogs posts in September and October last year. Argh!

This winter's first big frost

I found these silvery fern leaves growing on the car windscreen this morning

lending a helping paw

I am trying to write a proposal in support of a Jerwood Opera Writing Fellowship, and suffering  doubts and uncertainties and with that why-I-am-doing-this feeling that accompanies all new plans and dreams.

The cats, unusually, have both come to join me. They don't spend much time together but have obviously decided this is serious, and I need both of them to help. What am I to read into Jack sitting with his back to the proposal however, and Wesley sitting on it having an intimate wash?!

our shadow stood still

The whole world was shaking as the huge gale swept down
the valley. The only thing it couldn't move was our shadow, lying quietly on the sand.

Amazing Pink Orchid

Stranded in the Garden Centre between Christmas and New Year, this orchid was in a sad sale of plants that really weren't going to be kept much longer. That was two years ago, and it's been in flower ever since. Every morning I come into the kitchen and the amazing splash of pink greets me. I recommend an orchid for brightening the dark winter days.
